Thursday, September 14, 2023 marked the 2nd annual Peter Smith Memorial Golf Tournament where friends and family of the late Peter Smith raised close to $45,000 in support of The Children’s Foundation.
The hall at Black Bear Ridge was filled as Peter’s daughter Darcy spoke on behalf of the Smith family and reflected on Peter’s gentle nature, generosity, his love for his community, and sense of humour.
“It was a special day as we honoured a former TCF Guardian Angel. Peter was a dear friend to The Children’s Foundation, and we are so grateful to the Smith family for allowing us to be part of his memory. Peter’s belief that all children deserve equal opportunities shines through in this tournament where all funds raised will help youth pursue skills development training and financial assistance for post-secondary education.” Says Melanie Cressman, Executive Director of The Children’s Foundation
The Peter Smith Memorial Golf Tournament supports TCF’s “Reach for Success” program where youth are given financial support to take life-skills courses and pursue post-secondary education to promote independence, financial stability, and resilience.
The Children’s Foundation strives to improve the quality of life for children and youth in need by providing educational opportunities, inspiring activities, engaging experiences, and resources that empower children and youth for future success, in the communities of Hastings, Northumberland, and Prince Edward Counties.
