Today is the start of Child Abuse Prevention Month! Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society and Quinte Children’s Foundation are spreading the message that it takes a community to protect children from abuse and neglect by asking everyone to “go purple” in October. Not only is this a local awareness piece; Child Abuse prevention month is taking place across the entire Eastern Ontario region!
Purple is the colour of the Child Abuse Prevention Month campaign. Support thousands of children and youth who are exposed to violence and abuse in different forms and environments by wearing purple throughout the month of October and spreading the word.
Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society, Quinte Children’s Foundation and community partners will be hosting “Go Purple” events during the month of October. On Sunday October 5th at 4:05 pm, we will kick off our series of Go Purple hockey games at the Belleville Bulls game!!!! You won’t want to miss this match. Come out and cheer the Bulls and wear your purple!!!
The Highland Shores CAPM campaign now has an official video thanks to the efforts of Jennifer Bishop’s daughter Jolene, Charlene Berger-Marykuca’s daughter Michayla and some of their friends. We invite you to pass along the link to the video to friends, family, colleagues and community partners as we spread the word about preventing child abuse or neglect.
Don’t forget to share your purple photos on Quinte Children’s Foundation’s facebook page.
Break the silence, use your voice and join us in keeping kids safe!
