On Saturday March 4, 2017 Cynthya & Ken Schmidt were honoured as this year’s Guardian Angels in front of a record 330 guests, at The Children’s Foundation’s annual gala that raised a new record of $136,000. The Guardian Angel Award was created 17 years ago to recognize philanthropic leadership of individual(s) and groups and we could not think of two (2) more deserving angels within our community to honour. Congratulations, Cynthya & Ken.

On Thursday, December 15, 2016 at The Children’s Foundation office, 100 Men Who Care Quinte Members Colin McLean and Ian Press presented The Children’s Foundation Executive Director, Connie Reid and Mark Kartusch, Executive Director with Highland Shores Children’s Aid with a cheque for $9,000 for their Camps of Hope program.
TCF’s Executive Director, Connie Reid Camp said, “So far this year, we have helped over 180 children sign up for a camp. Every year, children in our community enjoy the enriching experience of attending camp they might not have had without the Camps of Hope program.” Camps of Hope helps to pay registration fees for families in need. The Camps of Hope program is available throughout the year including March break, summer and winter breaks and for any type: outdoor camp, arts, day camp, or sports.
Mark Kartusch, Executive Director with Highland Shores Children’s Aid thanked this group for directing their funds to The Children’s Foundation. “At camp, children will learn new skills and build life-long friendships. These experiences help create healthy pathways for all kids. The Foundation ensures that access to that pathway remains open for kids whose families are facing financial difficulties. Thank you to the 100 Men Who Care Quinte group for selecting The Children’s Foundation”.
On Monday, December 12, 2016 at The Children’s Foundation (TCF) Board Meeting, Co-Chair of the Rotary Loves Kids Golf Tournament, Sam Brady presented The Children’s Foundation Board Chair, Aleesha Camp and Executive Director, Connie Reid with a cheque for $8,500 for the TCF Reach for Success bursary program. To-date over $134,000 from the Rotary Loves Kids Golf Tournament has been donated to help youth continue their post-secondary education.
TCF’s Board Chair, Aleesha Camp said, “This past May, we gave out 50 bursaries to help youth continue their post-secondary education. Through amazing partnerships, like the Rotary Loves Kids Golf Tournament and donations from the community, we are able to help youth in care reach their goals.”
Mark Kartusch, Executive Director with Highland Shores Children’s Aid thanked all Rotarians and the many individuals who helped to make the golf tournament another successful one this year. “All youth deserve the opportunity to expand their horizons through education. Thanks to the Rotary Club of Belleville and this wonderful community event, the lives of many young people have been changed.”
As our 2017 Child Abuse Prevention Month is hitting the half way point we want to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you for your support during the month of October.
