16TH Annual Reach for Success Youth Awards Will Honour
Achievements of Over 130 Deserving Children and Youth in Care
June 15, 2016 – Today, The Children’s Foundation celebrates its 16th, ‘Reach for Success Youth Awards’ ceremony. It seems fitting to hold the ceremony at Loyalist College, as 34% of the Bursary Recipients will be returning to, or starting their studies at the College this fall. Tonight we will award 59 Reach for Success Bursaries!! We will also recognize 72 children and youth who will receive a Youth Award to recognize their achievement in one of six categories: Academics, Arts, Sports & Recreation, Volunteer & Public Service, Culture & Heritage and Personal Best.
“For some, this is their first certificate of achievement. For others, they received a Youth Award in the past and tonight they are on stage accepting a Reach for Success Bursary. As the Executive Director of The Children’s Foundation it truly is a special night for me and our organization. The Children’s Foundation volunteers work countless hours raising funds for our Reach for Success Youth Awards and Bursaries and to see and hear the appreciation from the children and youth definitely makes it all worth it!!” commented Connie Reid, Executive Director, The Children’s Foundation serving Hastings, Northumberland and Prince Edward Counties.
“We congratulate the many deserving recipients of both the Youth Awards and the Reach for Success Bursaries for their determination and achievements. Assisting youth in care to realize their academic goals continues to be a priority for Highland Shores Children’s Aid and the support provided by the community for this event over the past 16 years has been instrumental in helping us do that.” said Mark Kartusch, Executive Director of Highland Shores Children’s Aid.
The Children’s Foundation (TCF) has been serving children and youth in Hastings County since 1991 and in 2015 expanded to include Northumberland & Prince Edward Counties. The Children’s Foundation is an autonomous organization governed by its own Board of Directors and is the charitable arm of Highland Shores Children’s Aid (HSCA). Additionally, TCF offers programs for families who are living in poverty with no affiliation to HSCA. Programs and services aim to educate and inspire members of the communities they serve and to effect change that bring people and financial resources together to improve the quality of life for at risk children and youth.
