On Wednesday May 8th, 2019, McDonald’s restaurants in Bancroft, Brighton, Belleville, Madoc, and Quinte West donated proceeds approaching $30,000 for The Children’s Foundation. The funds raised will help send over 170 children from these communities to camp this year.
Ken & Cynthya Schmidt, Owners of McDonald’s in Quinte West and Brighton said, “We are so proud to be a part of this community, and we are especially proud on McHappy Day, because of all the great work that our staff does on our behalf! We want to thank all our guests who came out for McHappy Day; all our volunteers who helped us raise money in our restaurants, and all our fantastic staff who made it all possible. You know, we are truly blessed to live and work in such a great community. The care and support that our customers show for people in need, is wonderful to see, and it really has a way of “making your day!”

The Children’s Foundation with partner Trenton Golden Hawks Hockey Club have wrapped on another year for our Cheering for Children program.
This year, for every goal scored $21.00 was donated! We had another year of wonderful sponsors, who with this program are going to help make a difference for children and youth in Hastings County.
With 105 goals total in the regular season, TCF raised $2,205.00 for our Playing for Keeps program. This program provides funds for children & youth to participate in any activity or sport of their choosing.

On Saturday, February 23rd Kristin Crowe joined The Children’s Foundation Guardian Angel family as she was honoured, in front of 350 guests, at the Foundation’s Annual Gala that raised a record amount of $156,000! The Guardian Angel Award was created 18 years ago to recognize philanthropic leadership of individual(s) and groups.
Board Chair Sam Brady says, “Our community – and this organization, The Children’s Foundation – is so fortunate to have charitably minded and positive leaders like Kristin Crowe as supporters. Kristin’s popularity is evident in the amazing results achieved and success of our Angel Gala. Cop Shop 2018 was a wonderful success! Thank you to Quinte Mall, Cushman & Wakefield and Belleville Police Services for partnering with The Children’s Foundation to help make 15 local children have a nicer holiday this year!
From the generousity by Quinte Mall, to the amazing experience with local police; this is an amazing program and to see what can happen when our community bands together to help those in need.

On Thursday, July 5th The Children’s Foundation hosted it’s 3rd annual Cruise for Kids at the Picton Harbour. With over 230 attendee(s) over two (2) Cruise’s. Thanks for the generous sponsors & donours in PEC, TCF had another successful year. We would like to thank everyone who attended, donated or volunteered to be involved in this event. We can’t wait to see you on the water next year!!
On Saturday, April 14th, 2018 Danielle Robinson and Jonathan Bodden of the Ottawa Senators Foundation along with Sens COO Rob Mullowney and Vice-President of Communications Roger Lajoie, proudly presented The Children’s
Foundation and four other local charities with a cheque for $25,000 each to support programming that benefits the Bay of Quinte in the areas of health, wellness, education and youth.
The Children’s Foundation Executive Director, Connie Reid is overwhelmed by the support of the new local AHL team and is excited for this partnership and what this will mean for our local children and youth.
The Foundation will utilize these funds for the Playing for Keeps program, which helps to cover the cost of registration fees for local children and youth to be able participate in the activity they love. It is because of amazing partnerships and organizations like the Belleville Senators we are able to help families who are financially struggling.
On Saturday March 4, 2017 Cynthya & Ken Schmidt were honoured as this year’s Guardian Angels in front of a record 330 guests, at The Children’s Foundation’s annual gala that raised a new record of $136,000. The Guardian Angel Award was created 17 years ago to recognize philanthropic leadership of individual(s) and groups and we could not think of two (2) more deserving angels within our community to honour. On Thursday, December 15, 2016 at The Children’s Foundation office, 100 Men Who Care Quinte Members Colin McLean and Ian Press presented The Children’s Foundation Executive Director, Connie Reid and Mark Kartusch, Executive Director with Highland Shores Children’s Aid with a cheque for $9,000 for their Camps of Hope program.
TCF’s Executive Director, Connie Reid Camp said, “So far this year, we have helped over 180 children sign up for a camp. Every year, children in our community enjoy the enriching experience of attending camp they might not have had without the Camps of Hope program.” Camps of Hope helps to pay registration fees for families in need. The Camps of Hope program is available throughout the year including March break, summer and winter breaks and for any type: outdoor camp, arts, day camp, or sports.
Mark Kartusch, Executive Director with Highland Shores Children’s Aid thanked this group for directing their funds to The Children’s Foundation. “At camp, children will learn new skills and build life-long friendships. These experiences help create healthy pathways for all kids. The Foundation ensures that access to that pathway remains open for kids whose families are facing financial difficulties.
